Otoacoustic emission
Description
The sound generated in the external auditory canal the vibrations of the outer hair cells of the cochlea. Its existence was predicted by Thomas gold in 1948, and she was first discovered experimentally by David Kemp in 1978.
The presence of a person depends on the condition of the inner ear. In sensorineural hearing loss (in pathology of the cochlea) it is, as a rule, absent.
There are two types of otoacoustic emissions:
spontaneous otoacoustic emission — sound oscillations that spontaneously appear in the external auditory canal
called otoacoustic emission, which arises in response to presentation of the auditory canal sound stimulus
