The genus includes only three species:

• Dualistic gray (Diphylleia grayi) grows in the far East, Japan and China
• Dualistic Chinese (Diphylleia sinensis ) in East Asia
• Dualistic corymbose (Diphylleia cymosa) in North America

Because of its interesting features — flowers after the rain become translucent, often called dualistic Frame (Skeletal) flower (Skeleton Flower). And in America, common name Settolist (Umbrella-leaf).
