Orison

"Orison" (English "Orison") is the seventh episode of the seventh season of the series "The X–Files", which continues the story that began in the thirteenth episode of the second season ("Irresistible", English "Irresistible"). The episode belongs to the "monster of the week" category.

The action of the episode begins in an Illinois prison, from which, by a strange combination of circumstances, Donnie Foster escapes – a serial killer and a fetishist with a penchant for necrophilia. Mulder and Scully begin to investigate the case: it was thanks to them that Fester was imprisoned a few years ago.

During the investigation, the priest Orison, who owns the technique of hypnosis, is under suspicion of organizing the escape. Fester begins to pursue Scully, since last time she was able to avoid the fate of becoming his victim. Meanwhile, Scully encounters strange coincidences that make her wonder about the nature of evil and God.

One of the characters in the episode has the ability to hypnotize a large number of people around him, forcing them to see common hallucinations and follow his orders. His ability is selective: he can single out one person from a group of people who will not be hypnotized. A person who has been hypnotized by him remains in this state even after the hypnotist moves away from him at a considerable distance.

As in the beginning of the story, in the guise of an unknown being appears a maniac fetishist Donnie Fester, who kills women. He usually looks like a human, but one of the characters sees him reincarnated as a demon. It remains unknown whether Donny really changes his appearance, or it happens only in the imagination of the viewer.
