Millennium

"Millenium" is the fourth episode of the seventh season of the TV series "The X–Files". He belongs to the "monster of the week" type and has nothing to do with the main "mythology" of the series.

The episode is a crossover with the Millennium TV series, also created by Chris Carter.

FBI agents Mulder and Scully encounter the Millennium group, a secret society whose members believe that the apocalypse will happen on New Year's Eve 2000, and in this regard, they perform rites to resurrect the dead. To solve this case, agents turn to former FBI investigator Frank Black, who has a long history of relations with this organization.

The living dead are four members of the Millennium group who deliberately committed suicide, having previously agreed with the necromancer about the subsequent resurrection. After the witchcraft ritual, they come to life and turn into classic zombies: unreasonable, aggressive and greedy for human flesh walking decomposing corpses. According to the idea of the band members, they represent the four horsemen of the Apocalypse before Armageddon, which should begin on New Year's Eve 2000. However, the plot of the episode does not allow us to understand the differences between them.

Zombies attack people and try to devour them. You can protect yourself from them by drawing a circle around yourself with salt. It is possible to kill such a zombie only with a shot to the head, while hits in other parts of the body (for example, in the chest) have no effect.

A person killed by a zombie becomes a living dead person himself. Again, salt poured into his mouth allows to restrain this process (the lips must be sewn up), as well as a piece of paper with a quote from the Bible placed there. After removing the salt and paper, the zombie comes to life and starts attacking people.

The antagonist of the episode resurrects four people with the help of a witchcraft ritual. He disguises himself in the clothes of the dead to create a connection with them, and then conducts a ceremony near their graves, drawing a symbol of ouroboros around them with blood.

The resurrected are characterized by aggressive behavior and represent classic "fast" zombies. A circle of salt helps the necromancer to protect himself from them. Salt poured into a sewn mouth also helps to prevent the resurrection of a person killed by a zombie. After removing the salt, the dead man comes to life and attacks the pathologist doing an autopsy on his body.
