While the Cigarette-Smoking Man recites to an unseen listener everything about the work of the Syndicate involving a global conspiracy in cooperation with an alien species, Cassandra Spender reappears and is pursued by the scientists who would rather kill her than keep her alive. Cassandra runs to Mulder's apartment and demands that he shoot her because she is the culmination of 50 years work - a living alien/human hybrid - and colonization will begin if the aliens find out about her.

Description

"Two Fathers" and "One Son" are the eleventh and twelfth episodes of the sixth season of the X-Files series. The episodes continue the so-called "mythology of the series" started in the pilot series.

Plot

The unexpected return of Cassandra Spender, who turned out to be a successful alien-human hybrid, leads to the appearance of faceless alien rebels who kill the Syndicate doctors. Cassandra, a survivor of the massacre, reveals to Mulder the truth about the alien conspiracy. The smoker, Cassandra's ex-husband, tells the same story to his son Jeffrey Spender in the hope of convincing him to work for the Syndicate. Mulder and Scully continue to investigate the mass murder of doctors and find an unexpected ally in the person of Spender, who does not agree with the actions of the Smoker.

Meanwhile, the Syndicate members realize that the goal of long-term experiments on humans has been achieved, and begin to prepare for the final phase of the alien invasion. They and their families gather at an agreed place, but instead of their invading allies, rebels appear who kill everyone except the Smoker and Diana Foley.

The Alien

The episodes show representatives of two races of aliens who have previously appeared in the series. Some of them are short "gray colonizers" with big heads and long fingers (they also show the embryo of one of these creatures stored in the cryocamera again). The second are human-like "space hunters" with sewn–up eyes and mouths capable of changing their appearance - rebels trying to prevent the "greys" from colonizing the Earth. In these episodes, for the first time, it is shown that the fake face from the "hunter" can be torn off with your hands.

The series show a "successful" hybrid of a human and an alien, outwardly no different from the previously shown "unsuccessful" hybrids. He still has the same green toxic blood, and the wounds heal immediately after appearance. The hybrid was bred by modifying the body of an adult woman using genes derived from the embryo of a "gray" alien. At the same time, the woman retained all the memories not only of her past, but also of the process of hybridization.
