Schizogeny

"Schizogeny "(English:" Schizogeny") is the ninth episode of the fifth season of the TV series"The X – Files". The episode belongs to the "monster of the week" type and is not related to the main "mythology" of the series.

Agents Mulder and Scully investigate the alleged murder of their stepfather's stepson. The victim fell into the pit and suffocated, swallowing the earth, and the teenager can not explain how it happened.

Almost at the same time, another man falls out of the window and falls to his death. Suspicion falls on his daughter, but during the investigation, the agents find out that the man was not pushed: he was pulled out of the window by an unknown force.

Supernatural abilities are demonstrated by a woman with a mental disorder who suffered from her father's cruelty as a child. Obeying her will, the roots and branches of local trees attack people whom she suspects of child abuse. The earth absorbs their bodies, turning into liquid mud. In the course of the plot, it turns out that the roots of the trees removed the body of the woman's father who died a few years ago from the coffin and moved it to the basement of her house. The space of the coffin is filled with roots.

According to the stories of one of the characters in the episode, the local trees are sick: a liquid resembling blood oozes out from under their bark. This has happened before, but after the death of the woman's father, the trees recovered for a while.

All abnormal manifestations stop after the death of a woman. After falling to the ground, her body quickly sinks into it, as if into water.
