Travelers

"Travelers" is the fifteenth episode of the fifth season of the TV series "The X-Files". The episode belongs to the "monster of the week" type, but is also indirectly related to the" mythology " of the series.

In 1990, a young Mulder comes to former FBI agent Arthur Dales to get information about a case in which Fox's father, Bill Mulder, could be involved. Shortly before that, a serial killer named Sker was shot dead in an abandoned house, whose last word was "Mulder". Agent Dales tells Mulder-son a story related to the persecution of Communists in McCarthyist America, the victim of which was Sker and two of his colleagues.

An unknown creature (presumably of unearthly origin) is planted in the esophagus of American citizens during a secret government experiment. The creature looks like a huge insect or spider. It gradually seizes control of the host's body, forcing it to attack other people. At these moments, the creature crawls out of the host's mouth and penetrates the victim, after which it eats his internal organs, leaving only the skin and skeleton. Although this is not shown, it is obvious that after this the creature returns back to the host's body.
