A case involving a strange old man warning two scientists of events in the immediate future which come to pass (and the use of their experimental flash-freezing compound that does not exist yet) has Mulder believing that one of the scientists has come from the future to stop his own scientific breakthrough from becoming reality.

Description

"Synchrony "is the nineteenth episode of the fourth season of the X – Files television series. The episode belongs to the "monster of the week" type and is not related to the main "mythology" of the series.

Plot

Mulder and Scully investigate the death of a man under the wheels of a bus. His colleague, a cryobiologist named Nichols, was arrested on charges that the driver thought he had pushed his friend under the wheels. However, Nichols claims that his friend Menand was warned about the imminent death of an old man, and Nichols, according to him, tried to save his friend.

The case becomes even more complicated when the body of the police officer who detained this old man is found. The policeman was frozen by a substance that had not yet been invented.

Spontaneous spontaneous combustion of a person

The body temperature of a person who has been injected with a "freezing substance" drops sharply and reaches values below zero degrees Celsius. The person himself does not die, and if he is warmed up in a warm bath and resuscitated, he can come to life. However, the instability of the substance leads to an uncontrolled increase in body temperature, and if a person is not placed in a bath with cool water immediately after resuscitation, he can ignite himself.

Also, a time traveler will self-ignite if he is not injected with a "freezing substance" in time.

Chronoanomalia

The episode shows a man arriving from the future to prevent the discovery of the possibility of time travel. In the course of the story, he meets with a young version of himself, and as a result of the fight, they both die. The body of the older man is not found at the scene.

From the story of an alien from the future, it follows that time travel became possible after the discovery of tachyons – subatomic particles "capable of moving at a speed exceeding the speed of light, but only at a temperature of absolute zero." However, the human body is not able to survive the loads that occur during such a movement. Time travel for humans became possible after the development of a method for replacing water in the human body with trehalose and the discovery of a substance that provokes its ultra-fast freezing.

Trehalose is a real organic compound, a carbohydrate from the group of non-reducing disaccharides. It gives various organisms the property of recovery after a long dried state.
