El Mundo Gira

"El Mundo gira "(Spanish for" The World Turns") is the eleventh episode of the fourth season of the X – Files. The episode belongs to the "monster of the week" type and is not related to the main "mythology" of the series.

Agents Mulder and Scully investigate the mysterious death of a Mexican girl in an illegal immigrant camp. Her face is eaten away, and there are dead goats lying around. Superstitious residents of the illegal immigrant camp blame the Chupacabra, a monster from Mexican folklore, for what is happening. Meanwhile, two brothers who claimed to be Maria declare war on each other, while one of them is a carrier of an enzyme that causes deadly fungal diseases.

A guy who finds himself in the immediate vicinity of the meteorite crash site survives, but his body begins to secrete an enzyme that causes an explosive growth of fungi. The resistance of the host guy to the effects of an alien substance, apparently, is of a genetic nature, since it later turns out that his brother has the same immunity. Under the influence of the enzyme, the bodies of both young people begin to change: the hair falls out, lump-like growths appear on the heads, the skin color changes to gray-blue, and the pupils of the eyes increase in size.

The residents of the illegal immigrant camp for some reason call both brothers "chupacabra" and consider them cursed.

One of the residents of the camp for illegal immigrants tells her neighbors that she saw alien-like creatures in a place near which a bright flash was observed a few days before. She says that it is the "chupacabras" who have come to collect their brothers (two brothers who are also considered chupacabras by the locals).

Later it turns out that for the aliens / chupacabras, the woman took the employees of the epidemiological service in protective suits.

After a bright flash in the vicinity of the camp of illegal immigrants falls yellow rain, which quickly stops.

A girl who was in the immediate vicinity of the outbreak dies. Her face shows signs of exposure to some caustic substance: her eye sockets are empty, and the tissues around her mouth are corroded. Next to the girl's body, they find the corpse of a goat in the same condition. The girl's body, which has been lying in the morgue for several days, is completely covered with mold fungi.

The guy who was next to the girl at the time of the outbreak survives, but his body begins to secrete an enzyme that causes an explosive growth of fungi.

During the episode, it is suggested that the cause of the outbreak was a meteorite containing an alien biologically active substance that fell into a local lake. The water in the lake instantly evaporated and immediately fell out in the form of a yellow rain.
