Transylvania 6-5000

Transylvania 6-5000 is a 1985 American-Yugoslav comedy horror film. The source of inspiration for the plot of the film was the eponymous short cartoon about Bugs Rabbit, released by Warner Bros. in the Merrie Melodies series in 1963.

The title of the film is a pun on the song "Pennsylvania 6-5000", which became famous thanks to Glenn Miller.

According to the plot, the film contains references to all the classic monsters of the Universal horror universe. At the same time, none of the creatures shown in the film is supernatural.

Two journalists, on the instructions of the editor of a yellow newspaper, go to Transylvania in search of the Frankenstein monster. Naturally, they do not take this business trip seriously, but, nevertheless, they are conscientiously trying to interview the residents of the town. As the investigation progresses, they penetrate the secrets of the inhabitants of Transylvania, and it becomes obvious that everything is not so simple here.

Locals take people who have undergone severe operations for the living dead.

One of them was in a car accident and was literally assembled in parts, so scars and metal staples are visible on his body. The locals call him Frankenstein for his tall stature, but in fact this man is not a dead man.

The second "revived dead man" is wrapped in bandages from head to toe and is constantly in a sarcophagus-like box. It turns out that this is a woman who has undergone plastic surgery on her entire body, and the "sarcophagus" is a chamber with oxygen – saturated air necessary for her recovery.

A woman who is shy about her appearance and craves male attention, pretends to be a vampire. She wears revealing tight clothes and a cape that looks like bat wings. It turns out that she only pretends to be a vampire, and even the fangs turn out to be false.

The only real werewolf in the film can be considered a professor who loses his mind and turns into a fierce mad scientist as soon as he crosses the threshold of his laboratory. The transformation happens instantly, and his manners and appearance change dramatically. Obviously, this character refers the viewer to the story of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Another creature that the locals (including his own mother) take for a werewolf is a man stricken with a rare disease, as a result of which his entire body is covered with thick long hair.
