An agent from a distant planet has been sent to earth to ship large quantities of blood to his world, where a plague is ravaging the populace. He comes equipped with an interstellar matter transmitter, telepathic mind-control powers, and deathray-shooting eyes. Because he is also affected by the blood disease, he gains control of the town's physician and has him place a nurse at his disposal, while he collects live humans for fresh blood; but gains the nurse's suspicions, along with those of her boyfriend - a town police officer.

Description

"Not from this Planet" (English: "Not of this Earth") is an American fantasy thriller released in 1957. The film has two more modern versions, released in 1988 and 1995.

Plot

An alien from the planet Dovana, located in another Galaxy, is sent to Earth by means of a high-tech transporter. Here he begins to terrorize the inhabitants of California in an attempt to get blood for his dying race after a devastating nuclear war.

The alien hunts people and pumps their blood using a device placed in a special suitcase, and also sends living people to his planet for experiments. He is suffering from a disease that has affected all his tribesmen: his blood is constantly disintegrating, and in order to maintain life, he needs to make regular transfusions of human blood.

After a while, an alien woman comes to Earth, who reports that almost the entire population of their home planet has died. The alien tries to save the woman, but accidentally transfuses the blood of a rabid dog to her. As a result, his tribeswoman dies, and the doctors who found her body guess about the alien's goals.

The revealed alien sends an alien creature to kill the doctor, and he tries to get another person to send to his home planet, but during the police chase his car crashes, falls off a cliff and explodes.

The Alien

An alien from the planet Dovana arrives on Earth to conduct a study of samples of Earthlings' blood for its suitability for transfusion to his tribesmen. The alien's home planet has survived a nuclear war, and its population is slowly dying out. As a result of prolonged exposure to radiation, their blood is constantly disintegrating, and regular transfusions are necessary for the aliens to maintain life. If the mission is successful, the aliens plan to colonize the Earth.

The alien, dressed in a strict suit and black sunglasses hiding his white eyes without pupils, looks like a classic "man in black". So do other aliens sent to Earth for the same purpose, including females. The alien goes everywhere with a suitcase, which houses a device with which he pumps out the blood of his victims for subsequent shipment to his home planet. The blood of humans turns out to be compatible with the bodies of aliens. Interestingly, the device for delivering items to the alien's planet does not work with people: when trying to teleport a person, he turns into a bloody mess. The reason for this remains unknown.

The alien can read and control people's thoughts, suppress their will and control their actions, as well as mentally communicate with other nearby aliens. For mental communication with an alien on another planet, he has to use a special device that combines the functions of a teleporter and means of communication. The person who looked into the alien's eyes when he took off his glasses becomes numb and loses consciousness. The alien is afraid of harsh sounds: when he hears them, he grabs his head and loses control over the minds of earthlings.

The alien does not eat earthly food, but eats a substance dissolved in water that completely covers his needs for the necessary trace elements.

The alien is able to summon and control some kind of alien flying creature, similar to an umbrella made of leather. He releases this creature from a test tube to eliminate one of the characters in the film.
