Description

"The Mummy's Ghost" (English: "The Mummy's Ghost") is a classic horror film by Universal Pictures, released in 1944. It is a direct sequel to the film "The Tomb of the Mummy".

Plot

Egypt. The old priest Andoheb chooses a new successor – Yusuf Bey - to replace Mehmet Bey, who failed in the task, and sends him to America with the same mission: to find the mummies of Haris and Ananka and take them home. Meanwhile, in Mapleton, Tom Hervey is recounting Professor Matthew Norman's lecture to his girlfriend, Amina Manzori, an Egyptian by birth, but she suddenly feels unwell and asks him to stop.

Professor Norman studies the leaves of tana at night on a full moon in the hope of revealing the secret that allows to revive the dead. Haris suddenly appears, kills the professor and drinks a decoction of tana leaves. Amina watches this from the street, but then faints and does not remember anything when she wakes up.

Arriving in Mapleton, Yusuf Bey, with the help of tana leaves, summons Haris and together with him enters the Scripps Museum, where Ananka's mummy should be located. But the sarcophagus turns out to be empty, and the priest realizes that by the will of Amon Ra Ananka was reborn.

Tom promises Amina to take her to New York and get married. Yusuf Bey sends Haris to search for the reborn Ananka. The mummy kidnaps Amina – who is the reborn Ananka – and brings Yusuf Bey to the shelter. Mrs. Blake, who saw the abduction, calls Tom, and then runs to the professor's house to call for help from the police investigating there. Tom pursues the mummy, goes astray, but is led to the shelter by Nut, Amina's dog. At the same time, the police and residents of Mapleton are following in their footsteps.

Yusuf Bey, instead of killing the girl, falls in love with her and wants to give her a decoction of tana, making her immortal. Haris kills him in front of Tom, who arrived in time. Tom pounces on Haris, but the mummy defeats him and hides with a girl who increasingly assumes her true form of a three-thousand-year-old mummy.

Harisa and Ananka are overtaken by residents and the police, but they hide and drown in the swamp.

The mummy of Haris is revived and kept alive with a decoction of nine leaves of tana, cooked on a full moon. The mummy senses when someone nearby is preparing this decoction, and comes to this place. Despite the fact that according to the plot, Haris is not dead (the priests have been supporting life in him for three millennia with the help of a decoction of tana leaves), he is obviously immortal:he does not die in fires, and gun shots do not harm him.

According to the prophecy, the soul of Princess Ananka, who died 3,000 years ago, should be reborn in a new form. Ananka's mummy crumbles after Harris' touch, and the priest of Amon Ra realizes that her soul has found a new body. There is a birthmark in the form of an Egyptian hieroglyph on the hand of the girl in whose body the soul of Ananka has moved. Harris kidnaps a girl, and while he is carrying her into the swamp, she quickly ages – her body turns into a mummy.
