Dick Bannister is the new field boss of the Ford Logging Company, a Canadian logging-crew during a time when conflicts with the powerful Consolidated Lumber Company, a bitter rival company, have turned bloody, like a private war. His boss, Miss Edith Ford, comes to inspect the lumberjack camp, bringing her doctor fiancé with her. Dick is attacked by his rivals and left for dead. His loss of blood is so great that he needs a transfusion, but no human will volunteer, so the surgeon uses a wolf as a source of the blood. Plot

The story begins with Dick Bannister, the manager of a large Canadian company of loggers, who enters into conflict with the main competitor - a consolidated lumber company. The struggle between the companies results in a bloodbath. The owner of the company, Miss Edith Ford, and her fiance, a surgeon by profession, go to check the condition of the victims in the logging camps.

Dick is attacked by assassins hired by competitors from another company and left for dead. Dick is losing too much blood and needs an urgent transfusion. In the absence of a suitable donor, the doctor (Mrs. Ford's fiance) decides on a reckless act and transfuses wolf blood to him.

Everyone around begins to shy away from Dick, because they believe that he is now only half a man. After that, strange things start happening to Dick. His movements and reactions become faster. At night, he dreams that he lives with wolves and they mercilessly kill his company's competitors. Dick believes that he is possessed by wolf spirits and leads a bloody hunt for rivals at night. Soon one of them is actually found with his throat torn by a wolf. At the call of the ghost pack, Dick runs off into the woods and almost jumps off a cliff, but Edith Ford stops him and confesses her love to him.

The doctor says that his wolfish behavior is the result of a fantasy that has played out, but in fact he is quite healthy. The doctor goes back home, and Edith and Dick stay at the sawmill.

Werewolf

Dick is not a werewolf in the modern sense of the term. He turns into a wolf or doglike creature, its transformation in no way related to lunar cycles.

All of his problems start with the fact that he transfused the blood of a wolf, and the surrounding superstitious, on hearing this, you begin to see it as a threat. Under this pressure he begins to lose his mind, he sees the "wolf" dreams, and it ceases to separate dream from reality, considering that it is actually running in the night through the forests, accompanied by the ghostly pack. After some time the call of this pack that exists, apparently, only in his imagination, forcing him to flee into the forest and almost lead to suicide.

It is later revealed that the state of dick-induced psychosis. Gentle care and concern of a loving woman allows him to leave this state and return to normal life.
