Description

Tulpar (bask. Tolpar, kaz. Tulpar, kirg. Tulpar, kum. Tulpar, tat. Tulpar) — winged (or flying) horse in the Turkic (Kipchak (Bashkir, Kazakh, Tatar, Kyrgyz and others)) mythology.

Respond Pegasus in ancient Greek mythology and Buraku in Islamic mythology. Tulpar in Bashkir heroic tales acts as an adviser and assistant to the hero (batyr), who helps to overcome monsters; carries the hero (batyr) on himself through the air, throws lightning, lifts the wind with his wings, shakes the earth with his neigh. With a kick of the hoof, Tulpar knocks out a spring, the water of which gives inspiration to the sesen (storytelling singers).
