Description

In Belarusian folklore, the owner of a limited area of untouched forest (forest), exclusively hostile to man. It keeps such a frozen, dead silence in it that not only every movement, noise or scream that has arisen, but also the silence itself causes a feeling of terrible fear that penetrates to the bones for no apparent reason.

It keeps mainly on trees, taking the form of a gnarled growth, a bundle twisted from intertwined branches, or the form of an ugly snag. The whole is covered with green or brown moss — only the eyes glow like coals. The bushman's hands are like gnarled twigs. With them, he constantly tries to hook the walking, tear his clothes, scratch him, whip his eyes with branches. Under his feet all the time slips knots; dead wood.

He messes up and scares (especially the timid, and he himself is afraid of the brave).
