Description

Akbuzat (bask. Aҡbuҙat, tat. Akbuzat — light winged horse) — a character of Turkic folklore and mythology, the first ancestor (totemic ancestor) of the people, a heroic horse-virtue.

In Tatar mythology, there is a story about two divine heroic horses, Akbuzat and Kukbuzat (sky-blue horse), living in the sky, the horses take part in the deeds of the heroes descending to earth, then ascend to heaven again, where they are tied to an iron stake (tat. Timerkazyk — Polar Star) and graze around it. Seven horse thieves (the Big Dipper) are chasing Akbuzat and Kukbuzat, with the aim of kidnapping, but they cannot catch up.

It is also found in Tatar-Mishar folklore.

In Bashkir mythology, a magical winged heroic horse, the ancestor of the tulpars.
