According to legend, a rich Yaroslavl merchant Yerykalov, a well-known philanthropist, took a poor orphan boy to live with him, whom he met on the street. The merchant often left home on business, and when he returned one day, he did not see the child. While the owner of the house was away, the boy died under unclear circumstances.

Another version of the legend has more vivid details: allegedly the child was beaten to death by the manager and his son, the same age as the former tramp. At night, the body was dumped in a bag in the Volga. Yerykalov was told that the child had run away. It was not possible to find him.

Anyway, it is believed that periodically the ghost of a boy appears at the house, who begs for a piglet from passers-by.
