Surroundings of Lake Naroch
Озеро Нарочь, Belarus
Description
At the beginning of March 1916, one of the fiercest battles on the Eastern Front of the First World War took place near the largest Belarusian lake. Frost, artillery, rifles, bayonets and chemical weapons claimed the lives of about 50 thousand soldiers on both sides. The forests in the vicinity of Naroch are still dotted with half-buried trenches and filled with thousands of unmarked graves.
According to the stories, restless souls still frighten people.
