St. Isaac 's Cathedral

Built in 1818-1858 by architect Auguste Montferrand, the construction was supervised by Emperor Nicholas I.

There is a legend that the architect Montferrand was destined to die as soon as the temple was completed. And it was his ghost that has since settled in this temple and sometimes visitors see a strange shadow-like silhouette.
