Smolensk Fortress Wall

The main attraction of our city – the Smolensk fortress wall is entangled with a whole network of various legends and legends that adorn the story of any guide or just an enthusiastic storyteller.

According to one of the legends, Tsar Boris Godunov put a terrible spell on the Smolensk fortress, which will strike any enemy who tries to destroy it. According to another legend, somewhere in the wall is immured the skull of the war horse of St. Mercury of Smolensk, which warns the defenders of the fortress about the danger with an alarming neigh.

All travelers are attracted by the legend of the Veselukha Tower, where, according to legend, the daughter of one of the landowners was imprisoned for disobedience. Instead of moaning with grief, she laughed merrily, which terrified all the late travelers and gave the tower such a name.
