The Preiser Zone

The anomalous zone was discovered in 1940 by George Preiser. The zone occupies a small area (about 50 m in diameter) on a hillside overgrown with huge eucalyptus trees.

The compass behaves quite strangely here. At a height of one meter from the ground, it regularly shows the cardinal directions, but closer to the surface, its arrow changes its position by 180 degrees.

The law of gravity is also violated here. It is worth forcefully pushing a heavy metal ball along a chute inclined to the center of the anomalous zone, as it suddenly stops before reaching half the way and begins to roll back.
