Ostrogozhsky "Stonehenge"

Mostyshchenskoye settlement and labyrinth "sanctuary" is located in the valley Lukodonye Ostrogozhsky district Voronezh region, on the right bank of the river Touch it.

During excavations here on two capes, the remains of defensive fortifications (fortifications) of the Scythian period were found — the Mostishchenskoye settlement and the Averinsky settlement, which appeared on the Middle Don in the VI century BC.

Along with the usual finds for the Scythian period, fragments of vessels of the Ivanobugor type and catacomb culture were revealed. On the upper platform of the cape, the ruins of ring masonry stand out in relief against the background of the mainland. The masonry remains only fragmentary, they were repeatedly destroyed both in the Bronze Age and in the early Iron Age. The layout of the settlement includes a circular central platform of stone paving and six surrounding concentric rings-ellipses, between which in some cases fixed lintels. Both rings and lintels consist of stones laid out without special fitting and without any binding solution. Their maximum height in ancient times did not exceed half a meter; the larger diameter of the outer ring along the west-east line reaches 40 meters. That is, only the ruins of the structure have reached us, which in its original form was architecturally complex and systemic, which leaves no doubt: these are the remains of a "megalithic" religious building. It can be called a labyrinth sanctuary.

According to the stories of travelers, this place has a powerful energy and is a "harmonizer" of the environment. At the entrance to it, vegetation is riotously "spiked", people have an inexplicable fear, and directly on the spot someone faints, someone "covers" and "presses" to the ground. The place seems to "keep out" the uninitiated. But having been there, people are energized so much that they do not feel any fatigue and seem to be filled with peace.
