Oshutyaly

One of the interesting places of Mari El is the prayer grove near d . Oshutyaly in the birch forest (Zvenigovsky district). According to the stories of local residents, previously glowing lights, huge people in ancient clothes, the smoke of a large fire were often seen in it, although no one lit a fire in the grove. In Soviet times, the grove was partially cut down, and the birches were taken out for firewood or brooms, after which some of the people who were engaged in cutting down suffered under various circumstances…

Also, not far from the village of Oshutyal, there is an ancient cemetery, where archaeologists found the remains of bones and wool of sacrificial animals, which was officially documented. Locals consider this place "bad" and try not to go there, according to legend, there was an ancient prayer to Keremet – an evil spirit (pagan deity).
