Memorial complex "Sandy Log"

Мемориальный комплекс Песчаный лог, Воронеж, Voronezhskaya oblast', Russian Federation

Description

On the southern outskirts of the city of Voronezh, on the road to the village of Malyshevo, there is a Memorial complex Sandy Log. There is a monument on the mass grave of 450 Voronezh civilians who were brutally tortured by the Nazis in 1942.

From October 7 to October 9, 1943, excavations were carried out on the territory of the Sandy Log. A small obelisk was installed in this place in the first post-war years.

In 1975, by the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War, the construction of the memorial complex was completed.

Some claim that in the evening, pre-dawn and night hours here you can hear the moans of the dead, as well as see the scenes of those terrible events.

Our comments

Many of our group who lived or stayed in Voronezh visited this place. Often - repeatedly. None of us managed to film or see/hear anything that is said about this place, but we know several witnesses who heard groans and saw vague silhouettes in these places.
