Mamaev Kurgan

Mamayev Kurgan is a place of memory of the fallen soldiers, who, according to the Volgograd residents, "live" there until now.

According to legends, many people have seen the shadow of a soldier standing on duty in a Soviet uniform and the silhouette of a nurse who periodically wanders along the slope of the mound on moonlit nights. Visitors to the memorial complex hear sudden sounds that resemble distant echoes of battles and the moans of dying soldiers.
