The young wife of the owner of the estate of Prince Lyubansky, behind the back of her eternally busy husband, had an affair with the Minsk governor Musin-Pushkin. After one of the quarrels with her husband, Jadwiga ran out of the house into the park and did not return. Her body was found the next morning in a nearby river. The grief-stricken Prince Lubansky abandoned all business and left Minsk forever, planting a Manchurian apricot on the site of his wife's death. According to legend, the ghost of Jadwiga appears in the park during the flowering of this tree.
