Lipetsk reservoir

In the Lipetsk region, on the territory of the Gryazinsky district, on the Matyr River there is a large reservoir, popularly called the Lipetsk Sea.

It really has impressive dimensions: the length reaches 40 kilometers, the width is one and a half, and the depth reaches 13 meters. In the eighties of the 20th century, the reservoir was used for commercial fishing, but now the ecological situation there is far from ideal.

In the early 1950s, by the decision of the Central Committee of the CPSU and the government of the USSR, large-scale construction began Novolipetsk Metallurgical Combine. The idea of building a reservoir at the mouth of the Matyr River arose. At the same time, in the 1950s, the first engineering calculations were carried out. In 1957, the administrative reassignment of settlements falling into the flooding basin of the Matyr reservoir began. In 1963, the project of the bowl of the Matyr reservoir was approved and approved. The construction of the dam of the reservoir began in 1970 and was fully completed with the completion of the hydroelectric facility in 1976. The flooding of the reservoir began in April 1976.

A few years ago, it was rumored in the vicinity of the reservoir that a local monster, like the Scottish Nessie, appeared in it:

One summer night, ninth-grader Sasha Pospelov went swimming with friends. He swam farther away, and suddenly the water next to him began to boil, and something pushed him hard in the leg. The student swam to the shore as quickly as possible, and when he got out, he saw that blood was oozing from his leg. In memory of this adventure, Sasha had a large abrasion on his thigh: the skin was stung like sandpaper. An avid fisherman Semyon Lvov also happened to see an unknown monster. One morning he went fishing, but there was no bite, as if something scared the fish away. 

Lviv had heard a lot about the water monster, but somehow did not believe in these stories. So he was sitting, patiently looking at the float, when he suddenly noticed a long shadow in the water about fifteen meters from the shore. Then something like a hump appeared on the surface. Semyon froze, and the creature dived again a couple of minutes later. It's a hefty one, judging by the splash, and it looks like a fish tail flashed. Lviv considered the monster similar to a catfish, but the size was clearly excessive - ten meters, as it seemed to him, no less!

In a word, many people have seen the ichthyosaur. And he clearly considered the reservoir his possession. Devoured fish, stole geese and other waterfowl. Several times on the shores of the Lipetsk Sea, dogs walking along the shore mysteriously disappeared, and in front of fifty-year-old Evgenia Mulemina, a monster dragged away her own pig Yashka.
