Green Island Park

Locals say that at night a deep animal roar can be heard from the park. And once a corpse of a torn cow was found on the shore, after which the public started talking about "monsters", allegedly living here since the beginning of the 20th century.

And the story is as follows:

In 1911, a circus troupe arrived in Nikolsk-Ussuriysk. Here's what the newspapers wrote about it: "Today we have a super-expensive program presented to our attention. Wonderful freaks from all over the world will amuse Nikolsk-Ussurians. There is the biggest woman in the world 20 pounds in weight, and the thinnest man with a height of five yards. But two individuals of different sexes are of greater interest. They are half-monkeys, half-humans. They look like monkeys, because they have hair all over their body. At the same time, the monsters can speak French and dance the Viennese waltz...".

The attraction was so popular with residents that Ivan Jurgenson himself, the founder of the Green Island Park, mentioned it. He found out from the trainer about the monkey people caught in the Amazon forests. They say they resigned themselves to fate, stopped rushing at people and strangling chickens.

But two days before the expected departure, the couple broke the bars and ran into the thicket of the park. The police rushed to search, but they were unsuccessful. Soon, chickens and geese from the yards began to disappear from the locals, and in the dark, vacationers walking along the paths of the park met "hairy people, strange appearance, who do not have porticos." The public insisted on a round-up. And the animals of human appearance ceased to declare their existence.
