Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood
Храм Спаса-на-Крови, Санкт-Петербург, Leningradskaya oblast', Russian Federation
Description
The temple was built in memory of the fact that on this place on March 1, 1881, as a result of an assassination attempt, Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded (the expression "on blood" indicates the blood of the tsar).
There is only one ghost in the temple. He appears at the place of the tsar's death before the important events of St. Petersburg or Russia as a whole. It is believed that this spirit protects the temple from adversity.
There is also a ghost associated with this temple. This is the ghost of Sophia Perovskaya, who gave a signal with a white handkerchief that the royal carriage was approaching. He appears on the bridge opposite the temple every year on March 1.
