In the XIX century, the Chugunovo cemetery was one of the largest in Voronezh. The Samuel Warm Church was built to the left of the gate leading to the cemetery in 1808. Stone with a three- tiered bell tower The Ascension Cemetery Church was built in 1808-1813. The Ascension Church was not heated and therefore was considered cold, or summer. The cemetery and churches continued to operate after the revolution. The Ascension Church was closed in 1929. The following year, a homeless hostel was placed in the church of Samuel. In 1930, the destruction of the cemetery into public gardens and a tennis base began. In 1943, a glass factory was placed in the Ascension Church. By the end of the 1950s, the church was gone. In 1987, the Jubilee Sports Palace was opened on the territory of the former cemetery. From the Chugunovsky cemetery, only the Samuel Church and the left pylon from the entrance gate have been preserved. In 1993, the church of the Holy Prophet Samuel was transferred to the diocese. The temple is currently in operation.

It is difficult to say why the territory around the temple is considered abnormal by many. It is believed that ghosts often appear here, as well as that in this place people feel various unpleasant sensations, ranging from mild malaise to panic attacks.

Our comments

Many members of the group who live and have visited Voronezh have been at this place in different years. They note the fascinating atmosphere of the place, but do not associate it with mysticism, but rather with the awareness of antiquity. We have never been able to see or photograph something mystical in this place, as well as meet someone who saw it with their own eyes (there are several stories about friends and relatives who observed strange silhouettes at night).
