The building of the Cossack Theater

Здание Казачьего театра, Волгоград, Volgogradskaya oblast', Russian Federation

Description

The building of the Cossack theater, the former cinema "Guardsman", has a long and interesting history. Legend has it that Tsaritsyn merchant Alexander Shlykov built it in 1862 in memory of his daughter, who drowned in the Volga River before reaching adulthood. Perhaps it is the portrait of the deceased girl in the pearl shell that adorns the facades of the building. The female face is depicted on the facade 13 times, it is assumed that this is how many years the deceased was.

According to legend, it periodically occurs in the building: on the 1st floor of the building, steps are heard every night, suddenly the sounds are interrupted and sound with renewed vigor already on the 2nd floor. They even talk about the translucent silhouette of a young lady in a long white dress.
