Belchite City

Бельчите, Spain

Description

The ghost town of Belchite from the province of Aragon. It was destroyed and emptied in 15 days in the summer of 1937, during the Spanish Civil War. More than 6 thousand inhabitants died!

General Franco decided not to rebuild the destroyed city, which still stands as a mute monument to the horrors of that time. Today, there are many eyewitnesses who claim that not far from the monasteries of St. Raphael and St. Augustine, the chapel, and the old cemetery, you can hear voices, groans, including the ringing of clocks, or bells that have not existed for a long time, bomb explosions, rockets, screams and crying of people.
